IDO Security (IDOI.OB)

If you aren't familiar with the term MagShoe, you aren't alone. But consider this an introduction to a security solution becoming more and more common in airports and other sensitive locations in every part of the world. It fills a critical need in a superior way, and there appears to be nothing to stop it from going after an almost limitless security market.

MagShoe is made by a company called IDO Security (OTCBB: IDOI), headquartered in New York, with a subsidiary located in Israel. It has already been tested and approved to meet international standards for quality assurance, and has also undergone stringent testing by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), UK Department of Transport, German BKA (Federal Criminal Police Office), and others.

So what is MagShoe? It's a patented, compact system that instantly, and accurately, detects metal items concealed on or in footwear, ankles, or feet, without requiring the removal of shoes. As such, it fills a major security gap, since traditional screening devices stop short of detecting metals around or near the feet. As a result, millions of travelers are required to remove their shoes before passing through detectors, a workaround that nobody likes, and which creates a recognized security weak spot. MagShoe offers a convenient step-in device that extends security screening and metal detection to include the ankles and feet, without requiring shoe removal.

MagShoe is not just for airports. It can be used easily, quickly, and conveniently, in any situation where safety or security is a concern.

  • Seaports
  • Border Crossings
  • Train Stations
  • Corporate Offices
  • Private Security/ VIP Services
  • Government Agencies
  • Courthouses
  • Prisons
  • Schools/Universities
  • Stadiums
  • Nightclubs
  • Manufacturing Facilities
  • Logistics Centers/ Warehouses
  • Banks/financial Institutions
  • Jewelry Stores

The system integrates seamlessly with existing metal detectors, providing results in seconds. It's highly accurate (able to detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and differentiating metal normally found in shoes), is fully automatic, very cost effective, and well-received by the public.

But it's important to know that MagShoe, IDO Security's flagship product, is not just a great idea with high hopes for the future. The system has already been tested and is being installed and used at a growing number of locations all over the world. It fills a critical need in a superior way, and there appears to be nothing to stop it from going after an almost limitless security market. It really is a product, and company, whose time has come.

Micro Identification Technologies Inc. (MMTC.OB)

The technical name for it is Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The common name for it is MRSA. You may not know much about it. You may not have even heard of it. So it could come as a surprise to find out that, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association, MRSA is estimated to have killed 18,650 people in the U.S. alone in the year 2005. The MRSA death rate in the U.S. is now higher than the AIDS death rate.

MRSA, a growing drug resistant form of Staphylococcus aureus, is just one of many pathogenic bacteria that can be found in almost any environment. In fact, modern hospitals and health care facilities, the very places where infection would seem least likely, are the source of most MRSA and other infections. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that each year in the U.S., there are almost 1.7 million healthcare facility related infections and 99,000 related deaths. The annual cost for dealing with these infections runs into billions of dollars.

The good news is that virtually all of these infections, including MRSA, could be easily dealt with if we just knew where the bugs were. Unfortunately, traditional methods of identifying contamination can take days, and be costly, requiring lengthy culturing and a professionally staffed lab. For example, the screening of new hospital patients for MRSA is desired, but the cost and time is considered prohibitive. And by the time the results would be known, it could be too late.

What is needed is a completely new approach to the identification process, a need reflected in the marketplace where current growth projections for rapid testing exceed 10% annually, reaching $6.2 billion by 2013. And a new approach is exactly what is now offered by a company called Micro Identification Technologies Inc. (OTCBB: MMTC). This California based company has developed what can only be called a revolution in the field of bacteria identification. It has created the world's only non-biological automated system for identifying bacteria, the MIT 1000.

Totally different from traditional approaches, which depend upon extensive culturing, chemical agents, and the subjective evaluation of trained professionals, the patented MIT 1000 is entirely automatic and objective. The system uses laser light, reflected off of an extremely small sample of the target bacteria, to generate unique interference patterns. The patterns are detected by an array of photo sensors and are immediately analyzed by proprietary software. The result is a highly accurate and objective identification in a matter of minutes, something previously impossible.

Mobile Star Corporation (MBST.OB)

According to viewer statistics, the single biggest thing on television, arguably drawing in more viewers than everything else combined, is the juggernaut known as reality TV. And nothing is bigger than the king of reality TV, the phenomenon known as American Idol. It's one of the highest ranked shows in the entire history of television, and part of a franchise that has now gone around the world. Over 100,000 people from all over America audition for American Idol every year in a desperate attempt to simply get on the show. Some researchers have gone so far as to call it a national addiction, except that it is part of a worldwide franchise with comparable shows in dozens of other countries.

Over and above the economics of the franchise, and the power of reality TV, there is actually only one engine behind a show like American Idol, and that is the insatiable desire of people to perform. Whether or not a person is truly talented is of no relevance. Millions of people are either convinced that they can perform, or simply love to do it. The multi-billion karaoke industry attests to this, and the newest industry entry comes from Mobile Star Corporation (OTCBB: MBST), a company based in Israel but targeting North America.

Mobile Star has come up with an excellent solution to address the tidal wave of demand for personal performance options. It has created a patent-pending technology that effectively brings the hardware and software of a professional recording studio to virtually anyone. Designed by recording studio professionals, the Mobile Star Studio is a fully automated, free-standing vending-booth style karaoke system, that allows any aspiring singer or performer to create a high-level CD of their performance for just a few dollars. The system features a proprietary digital-media software platform, with professional-grade hardware, to dramatically improve sound quality, actually imitating the acoustics of a hall. Performers can choose any category and song from a huge library, record their work, and walk away with a digital CD to use for personal review, for gifts, parties, friends, or even to send to a record producer.

The machines, due for installation at popular recreational areas including shopping malls, bars, and theme parks, are expected to generate more than $30,000 annually in gross revenue. Surprisingly successful results of the company's recent introductory New York pilot program have already led to a significant upgrade in sales projections and anticipated return-on-investment calculations. In addition, they've now reached a preliminary distribution agreement with Apple Industries, one of the premier producers and distributors of coin-operated electronic entertainment systems in North America. Apple has expressed confidence that The Mobile Star will be a market winner.
